Finding a quality restaurant only half a mile from where I live was a great discovery. It meant I can push
myself in my wheelchair, so both my wife and I can have a drink without worrying about who is driving home.
If you don't live that close, there are ample disabled parking bays within 50 yards of the entrance, and local bus and
Metro services stop within a quarter of a mile.
Unfortunately, there is a large step at the main entrance, but fear not! Access to the restaurant is via the adjacent
fitness centre. The restaurant could do with some sort of signage at the entrance to advise that this is the way in.
Once inside, the restaurant is all on one level and is spacious, with large round and rectangular tables permitting me
to get close with my wheelchair.
The accessible toilet is back into the adjacent fitness centre immediately outside the adjoining door. It is a
very spacious toilet due to it including a shower, making the transfer area very large. The usual grab rails were provided,
although there is no colour contrast due to white rails on white tiled walls.
The only negative thing I found in the toilet is that the drier is a long way from the sink (8 feet), so pushing with
wet hands is not appropriate. I am sure they could easily offer paper towels as an alternative.
So now you know it is accessible for me, I should tell you the food and service were excellent. I had the home
made meatballs with tagliatelle followed by a fantastic tiramisu.
Luciano's is well worth a visit. We'll certainly be regulars given it's proximity to home.
